Ezekiel was a man in exile. He was far from his homeland of Israel. He knew that the nation of Israel had been sent to Babylon because of their sins. While in Babylon, Ezekiel received visions from the Lord. One of the visions gave detailed instructions of the rebuilding of the temple. After sharing the plans the Lord told Ezekiel:
As for you, son of man, describe the temple to the house of Israel, that they may be ashamed of their iniquities; and let them measure the plan. (Ezekiel 43:10)
The details of the plan for the temple was enough to make the Israelites feel guilty for the way they desecrated it with their sins of idolatry. But the perfection of the plan was intended to bring repentance.
How much more should we "measure the plan" of redemption. The plan of a Lamb slain before the foundation of the world is the perfect plan of salvation. No one but God Himself could have created such a magnificent way of redeeming His people. Only the Lord could write a book composed of many authors over a period of 1500 years who all point to this plan. From Genesis to Revelation, we see a plan of God to draw people back to Himself. The beauty, the pain, the love, the sacrifice were all a detailed plan laid out before time began. Today, look at the cross. Measure the plan of your salvation. Not only how the Lord wove through time by entering the world at Bethlehem and dying at Calvary, but how He sought you specifically and brought you into salvation. May your measure of the plan lead you to marvel at the Planner.
